COST EFFECTIVE AND TIMELY LEAN IMPLEMENTATIONS
Implementing a defense information management system may be difficult without an applied dedicated method.
Too many “big bang” implementations are done with dramatic changes in very little time, causing instabilities and monetary loss. ILIAS Solutions advocate a methodical progressive process.
For example, ILIAS can first be implemented for a single type of material across all units or to each type of material for a single unit. This allows organizations to significantly reduce the risks and maintain permanent budget tracking.
Our lean implementation approach is geared towards realizing early results and continuous improvement. This process has proven to be very cost-effective and includes tight change control for the Belgian Defense and Fuerza Aérea de Chile.
Good planning and project milestone charts have always been crucial for our implementation strategies. The plan and project administration remain at high levels with both parties updating the project milestone charts.
A template of the milestone delivery charts is provided at project initiation and is used as a project progress communication vehicle. It’s estimated that milestone owners will spend 15 minutes per week updating the charts, without losing control.
To support the implementation, progress meetings are held on a weekly basis and lead by the customer’s Project Manager. Status reporting then becomes second nature and a standard end-of-week routine.
Our high-level implementation plan is based on the LOC (Levels of Capability) within two to four months; a realistic and manageable period that keeps people engaged.
The implementation pictured below covers 3 LOCs, over 12 months.
